A few days back my english teacher saw me reading an Indian Romance, by an Indian author...........
And you know what? That teacher of mine was literally pissed of..!
Why.? Just because they are all the same...!
All the authors are engineering students., from some good college/ institute., didn't like science and switched to English..... and all the stories are almost the same!!
Dear Ma'am.
I AGREE. But I just don't care!!
She wanted me to read classics like Shakespeare.....!! And improve my language....!
Joke...eh?
But the teacher left my mind fishing for the reasons to read indian authors rather than Shakespeare....
William Shakespeare was baptised in 1564.......!
OMG!
Only god knows when was he born.!
Chetan Bhagat, a popular indian author and columnnist...., was born in 1974...!
Bhagat's present age is 37.....,
and Mr. Shakespeare if alive would have been around 447 years old...!!!

Classics (William Shakespeare) v/s Indian Authors (Chetan Bhagat)
Relevence....William Shakespeare was baptised in 1564.......!
OMG!
Only god knows when was he born.!
Chetan Bhagat, a popular indian author and columnnist...., was born in 1974...!
Bhagat's present age is 37.....,

OMG.....!!!
Chetan Bhagat belongs to the present generation.,
whereas Mr. Shakespeare belong to my GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER'S generation......(probably.?!)
So, now we definately know who would be more relevant in the present scenario........!
Cost Factor....
The average mean cost of the five books by Chetan Bhagat..........,
is 425.6 INR......
The average mean of the top 5 by William Shakespeare.......
(taken to be Hamlet, Macbeth, A mid-summer night's dream, Romeo & Juliet, Othello.)
is a whopping.... 1103.8 INR...!!!
Its more than DOUBLE..!!!
And is enough to burn a hole..........
in my pocket....!
and a big one at that....!
Language....
William Shakespeare is definately a great writer but his lines just construct a flyover over my head........!!!!
Consider these lines or words.........,
1. Boatswain!
2. Hence! Home, you idle creatures, get you home.
3. In delivering my son from me, I bury a second husband.
What on earth are these supposed to mean.....!!!!
Even his romantic lines..............,
fail to arouse any romance......!
consider this........
# By'r lady, your ladyship is nearer to heaven than when I saw you last.
# I burn, I pine, I perish.
Dear Mr. Shakespeare,
You could definately have been a little more ROMANTIC....?!!
So, now we have more than one reasons to read a Chetan Bhagat rather than a Shakespeare......!
If you don't like the blog tell me................
if you like it tell others......!!
